Tencent Visit

On March 30, AustCham South China organised a site visit with more than 60 people from Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong to visit Tencent and DJI. Thank you all for your participation!

At 14:30, we arrived at the Tencent Headquarter. The receptionist showed us around the company and introduced some big events that Tencent is organising. The guests were quite impressed by the huge progress Tencent has made in the last decade.

The map below shows how many wechat users are online at any given time all over the world. The brighter parts indicate concentrated areas of online users.

The latest invention is a real time thermodynamic diagram on WeChat. Users can know how crowed it is when they visit a site. Police can take preventive measures to prevent stampede and insure the public security.

There are many gadgets Tencent invents for a better community, like smart shoes. There is a chip under the shoes and parents can track after the kid on WeChat. It can help police and parents find the kids once they get lost.

Tencent was founded in 1998. Within 20 years, it has grown to be one of China’s most advanced high tech companies. With its leading products QQ and WeChat, it has build up its international reputation.

DJI Visit

DJI is founded in 2006. From 2011 to 2015, its sale has grown up more than 100%, 80% of which is from overseas. The unmanned aerial vehicle of the invention has a broad application, such as scientific experiments, remote sensing, reconnaissance and aerial photography.

Later at 16:00, we headed to DJI, a high-tech company famous for unmanned planes. The commentator showed us different types of DJI planes on the site, like Phantom, Inspire and Mavic. The highlight was at the end of the tour we took a group photo with the unmanned plane hovering above, which was ina shape similar to the logo of AustCham.
