Legal Seminar: Public Interest Environmental Litigations in China – Something is Changing

08-02-18 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

The Revised Environmental Protection Law in China was adopted in 2015, it imposes stricter obligations on enterprises regarding pollution prevention and control, and provides for more severe penalties. Since then, more and more NGOs started to file “public interest environmental” lawsuits to the courts. Enterprises should be aware of this trend and learn more about reducing the risk of being sued. Join AustCham, Kingbridge Law Firm, Forest Academy Foundation and Let the Birds Fly Foundation for our upcoming seminar as we will address this question and more.

The first presentation from Richard Zhang – Kingbridge Law Firm will focus on the Revised Environmental Protection Law.

1. What’s new in the Revised Environmental Protection Law ?

2. What is Public Interest Environmental Litigation ?

3. What should we learn from the past public interest environmental litigation cases ?

4. What multinational companies should do to avoid being sued ?

The second presentation is from Yue Hua, director of Let the Birds Fly Foundation, an NGO focused on wildlife protection and Tracy Luo, director of Forest Academy Foundation, an NGO focused on environmental protection education. Yue Hua will share his life and death experiences as an environmental protection worker. Tracy will share her working experiences as promoting environmental education.
