As all good things do, our Chairman Chris Roberts‘ time at the Chamber has come to an end. Last week marked his final board meeting, where, amongst the goodbyes and champagne, Nick Myintwas elected as the new Chairman. Chris’s time has seen much change in the chamber and of course memorable events. The formal partnership with AustCham Greater China, Official China NGO recognition, a full board & development of sub committees, along with events such as the Shenzhen Ambassador’s Cocktail, rejoining the InterChamber Drinks, development of the Business Networking Events, joining the ACBA Awards and the launch of AustCham’s monthly Happy Hour Drinks. It’s been a busy 22 months, and through the good times and the tough times, the Chamber has always benefitted from a leader committed to the Australia-China community. Chris will now be leaving China and moving to Indonesia to open a brand new Hilton Hotel, much the same as he did here in Guangzhou – thank you Chris for your tenure.
The new Chairman Nick Myint is dedicated to continue growing AustCham’s capacity and since becoming a board member last year has shown consistent support of the members and secretariat. As the CEO of Little Treasure and Aoziya, Nick has a proven track record in cross border business and leadership. With so many links that tie South China to Australia, Nick is keen to work closely with the other Board Directors, Secretariat, and Membership to push AustCham’s capacity above and beyond. Congratulations Nick, and we all look forward to an even more bright future at AustCham South China.
