About AustCham South China:

The China-Australia Chamber of Commerce, South China (AustCham South china) was formed in 1994 to develop, promote and expand business relations between Australia and South China. As a member of AustCham Greater China and as a registered NGO office in the People’s Republic of China, the chamber represents its members through sharing information, connections and government advocacy. As a platform AustCham enables its members to exchange information on business opportunities in the region. AustCham South China’s office is based in Guangzhou with representation across the broader South China region.

You are immersed in an environment dealing with a membership of well accomplished Australian business leaders in China. AustCham South China is governed by a Board of Directors representing many of Australia’s business leaders in the region. Working at AustCham South China in this role you are likely to develop further skills in business administration, industry relations, marketing, project management, event management, government relations and other key areas to develop business acumen. In this role you are encouraged to develop relationships with members of the Australian business community in China.

Key Responsibilities:
>>  Business Administration – Assist in the preparation of the monthly board materials and business administration in consultation with the Business Executive

>> Financial Reporting & Accounts – Manage / Assist in AustCham South China’s accounts and budget preparations in consultation with The Treasurer

>> Membership Drive – Assist in membership and sponsorship drive of AustCham

>> Business Development – Assist in establishing and executing management plans informed by the financial reporting / accounts management / business administration work done within the role

>>   Analysis – maintain knowledge of current and emerging industries in Southern China, particularly those relevant for Australian firms

>>  Will occasionally be called on to assist with event planning working closely with the Business Executive

 

Key Performance Indicators:

>>  Timely collection and submission of monthly reports

>>  Deadlines met

>>  Assists the team when needed

>>  Keeps the Business Executive informed of relevant information

 

Requirements:

>>  Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline

>>  Native Chinese language proficiency. Whether a native speaker or non-native English speaking applicant, you should have excellent English skills across all disciplines

>> Experience assisting in events planning and execution

>> Knowledge of local laws and local administrative processes highly desirable

>>  1-3 years’ experience with accounting, finance, office management and business administration desirable

>>  Experience with an international business in China desirable

 

Reporting Hierarchy:

The Accounts & Finance Manager reports to the Business Executive (in their absence this role will report to AustCham Board’s executive committee). The Accounts & Finance Manager will often liaise with Membership and Communications teams.

 

General Awareness:

Understands the considerations and values of a non-profit, membership based organization. Ability to work in a small team environment, contribute positively to local atmosphere and deliver on job responsibilities.
